About Us

The Deerness Valley Methodist Church is part of the Durham and Deerness Valley Circuit and is a church that meets over three sites in Bearpark, Brandon and Esh Winning to worship and serve God and offer a variety of social activities to the local communities. We are an Eco Church having received the Bronze Eco Church Award in 2024 and are working towards the Silver Award. The church promotes environmental values in our worship and how we care for God's world and one another. 

During the week we meet for occasional worship and Bible study sessions for example Lent or Advent prayers and Bible Study often including our ecumenical partners with whom we meet for worship, discussion, and action.

Christian Aid and Global Care events, particularly the quizzes, enable us to support charities who work in the wider world. 

Youth activities include Shell Group, Youth Club and Open the Book providing meeting places and opportunities for a range of engagement with one another, the community and church.
